Youth Programming & Operations Internship

The Chilmark Community Center (CCC) is seeking a youth programming and operations intern to support the daily programming needs and operations of the summer camp program. The intern will engage directly with children and families through arts, sports, and enrichment activities, gaining hands-on experience in mentorship and program facilitation. They will also assist with administrative tasks such as program planning, communications, and event coordination.
This internship provides a well-rounded introduction to nonprofit leadership, combining direct service with behind-the-scenes operations. Interns will receive mentorship in community engagement, curriculum development, and organizational management. This is an excellent opportunity for young adults interested in education, youth work, or the nonprofit sector.

Hours: Monday - Friday | 8:30 AM - 3 PM
Duration: Camp runs from June 26 - August 15
Duties + Responsibilities
Direct Service Responsibilities:
Support and facilitate youth programs, including arts, sports, and enrichment activities.
Lead small group activities, games, and workshops for children and teens.
Provide mentorship and guidance to program participants, fostering confidence and inclusion.
Assist with behavior management and conflict resolution in a positive, supportive manner.
Ensure a safe and engaging environment by setting up and maintaining program spaces.
Build relationships with children, families, and staff to create a strong community atmosphere.
Assist in adapting programming to meet the diverse needs and interests of participants.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Assist with planning and coordinating events, workshops, and daily program activities.
Provide administrative support, including organizing materials, tracking participation, and managing communications.
Collaborate with CCC staff to develop program content and ensure smooth operations.
Contribute to outreach efforts by assisting with social media, newsletters, and community engagement.
Participate in mentorship and training sessions to develop leadership and nonprofit management skills.

Compensation
Compensation: $16-24/hour based on experience.

By the end of the internship, the participant will:
Understand the fundamentals of youth program facilitation, including group management, behavior support, and activity planning.
Develop confidence in leading activities and engaging with diverse age groups, strengthening communication and leadership skills.
Be proficient in event coordination and administrative tasks, including scheduling, record-keeping, and outreach.
Gain hands-on experience in community engagement and nonprofit operations, contributing to program development and implementation.
Develop competency in basic marketing tools, including social media outreach, newsletter creation, and promotional material design.
Strengthen time management and teamwork skills, balancing direct service responsibilities with administrative support.

CAMP! Internship Program Requirements
BootCAMP!
CAMP! interns are required to participate in BootCAMP–a weekend of in-person professional development workshops. Topics covered include professionalism, goal setting, skill development, financial wellness, and preparing a professional profile.
Upon completion, interns will receive a certificate of completion. Exemptions may be permitted under exceptional circumstances.
When: Saturday + Sunday | June 21 + 22, 2025
Location: In-person at Slough Farm in Edgartown, MA.

Mandatory check-ins
Throughout the program, interns will participate in check-ins with the CAMP team.
This includes an initial onboarding meeting at the beginning of the internship program, a group coaching session, and an end of program check in.
During check-ins, interns will reflect on their personal and professional goals and accomplishments relating to their internship experience.
