Social Media Marketing + Photography Internship

Vineyard Havens is looking for a marketing intern with social media experience to join their team! This internship involves social media marketing, storytelling, and working as a part of a small team that supports cancer patients and their families during a fragile time. The intern will also work directly with the Program Director for photoshoots of participating families - this can be a tender, inspiring and emotional time for families, some of whom may be taking their last photographs. Most of the photoshoots are often quite joyful!

About the Employer

Vineyard Havens brings cancer patients and their families to Martha’s Vineyard for respite vacations. The mission of the organization is to give all-expenses paid vacations to families facing cancer so they can rest, reconnect and make new memories again.

The intern will contribute their marketing and storytelling skills to the team, while embodying the grace required when working with a medically fragile population. This will be a meaningful experience for the right candidate. The intern will learn marketing & communication strategy for a small, growing non-profit.


Details

Start date: Mid June | flexible
Hours: 4-6 hours/week  (must be available for photoshoots, usually in the mornings between 8:30-11 AM)
Duration: June 15 - August 15 | flexible, could be longer if good fit

Duties + Responsibilities

  • Taking photographs and video (iphone okay) at beach family photoshoots (18 shoots across summer, majority scheduled in morning) (2-3 hours/week)

  • Taking photographs and video around island (1-2 hours/week)

  • Creation of social media reels / posts / stories (1-2 hours/week)

  • Collaborating with team: Hootsuite scheduling tool, strategy about posting, collaborating on copy (1-2 hours/week)

Skills + Experience

Required skills:

  • Strong amateur photography and videography skills

  • Strong interpersonal skill, with ability to work with a wide range of ages + personalities

  • Demonstrated ability to meet people where they are

  • Knowledgeable with Instagram platform

Bonus points for:

  • Up to date understanding of social media algorithm

  • Comfortable with other social media platforms

  • Hootsuite experience

The ideal candidate will be adaptable, great with all different types of people, and has a strong understanding and interest in learning about Instagram and its algorithm. Also, the ideal candidate is great with an iphone or other professional equipment for video/photos.

Compensation: $20/hour

CAMP! Internship Program

BootCAMP!
CAMP! interns are required to participate in BootCAMP–a weekend of in-person professional development workshops and an orientation. Topics include leadership development, basics of financial wellness, workplace etiquette, etc. Upon completion, interns will receive a certificate of completion and a stipend. Exemptions may be permitted under exceptional circumstances.

When: Saturday, June 22 + Sunday, June 23, 2024

Location: In-person at Slough Farm in Edgartown, MA.

Mandatory check-ins
CAMP! interns are required to participate in three check-ins with the CAMP! program coordinator throughout the duration of the internship. This includes an initial meeting at the beginning of the internship program, a mid-way check-in, and an exit interview. During check-ins, interns will reflect on their personal and professional goals and accomplishments relating to their internship experience.
