Environmental Sustainability Marketing + Community Engagement Internship
Are you passionate about environmental sustainability? Do you have an interest in marketing and community outreach? Are you eager to implement solutions to protect our local environment?
Island Eats is looking for an environmental sustainability marketing intern to join their team! This internship provides an opportunity to use your passion for sustainability and environmentalism to help grow the Island's first and only large-scale reuse system. The successful candidate will learn the inner workings of a small, entrepreneurial local nonprofit, and will learn how to grow a sustainability initiative, with a focus on on-the-ground marketing efforts and customer acquisition.
The mission of Island Eats MV is to help local farmers, producers, restaurants, and their customers embrace, reuse and make more sustainable choices that protect our local Island environment. Island Eats MV operates a reusable food service container system at 21 cafes, restaurants and fish markets island-wide that has saved over 3000 single-use containers from landfill and/or ending up as litter in our environment.

Duties + Responsibilities
The intern will be responsible for designing and implementing a "ground game" for raising awareness about Island Eats among seasonal and year-round residents alike. This involves:
Co-designing outreach strategies with Island Eats' staff
Research, sign up for and staff summer markets, which involves engaging members of the public on issues of sustainability and educating them about Island Eats.
Organize and staff pop-ups at partner restaurants and food events, which involves engaging members of the public on issues of sustainability and educating them about Island Eats.
Producing web, social media, and newsletter content (preferable)

The ideal candidate is creative, outgoing, charismatic, and comfortable chatting with strangers. The candidate readily takes initiative and is passionate and energetic about sustainability and/or our island.
Compensation
Compensation: $20/hour. This role could become a long term, side gig for the right candidate.

CAMP! Internship Program
BootCAMP!
CAMP! interns are required to participate in BootCAMP–a weekend of in-person professional development workshops and an orientation. Topics include leadership development, basics of financial wellness, workplace etiquette, etc. Upon completion, interns will receive a certificate of completion and a stipend. Exemptions may be permitted under exceptional circumstances.
When: Saturday, June 22 + Sunday, June 23, 2024
Location: In-person at Slough Farm in Edgartown, MA.

Mandatory check-ins
CAMP! interns are required to participate in three check-ins with the CAMP! program coordinator throughout the duration of the internship. This includes an initial meeting at the beginning of the internship program, a mid-way check-in, and an exit interview. During check-ins, interns will reflect on their personal and professional goals and accomplishments relating to their internship experience.
