Early Childhood Education Internship

Plum Hill Summer Camp is looking for an enthusiastic early childhood education intern to join their team! Their camp is a Waldorf-inspired, all-outdoor camp that runs from Monday through Thursday, welcoming children ages 4-11. The intern will play a key role in creating a fun and enriching experience for the children attending, with responsibilities including working collaboratively in leading and assisting age appropriate and imaginative activities such as arts and crafts, circle songs and games, water play and storytelling. Other core elements of this program include ensuring the safety and well-being of campers, facilitating daily rhythm including snacks, outdoor free play, and small and large group activities, and promoting a sense of wonder and respect for nature through outdoor focused activities and initiatives.

Please note that this is an entirely outdoor camp, rain or shine!

About the Employer
Plum Hill School is an early childhood program inspired by Waldorf education for children 15 months to 5 years old emphasizing imaginative play and reverent, joyful engagement with the natural world. Plum Summer is a Waldorf inspired, nature based, outdoor summer camp on Martha’s Vineyard. Campers will enjoy themed weeks such as Flowers & Bees, Farming, Music, Natural Dyeing, Puppetry, Storytelling and more. We seek to provide a fun and nurturing environment that fosters imagination, creativity, community, and love and respect for the natural world.

Start Date: Monday, June 23

Hours: 24 hours/week | 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM Mondays-Thursdays.

Duration: The intern will support the summer camp from June 23 -  August 14, 2025

Opportunity Open to: High School Students and College Students

Duties + Responsibilities

  • Working collaboratively in leading and assisting age appropriate and imaginative activities

  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of campers

  • Promoting a sense of wonder and respect for nature through outdoor focused activities and initiatives


Skills + Experience

Required skills:

  • A passion for education and working with youth

Bonus points for:

  • Past experience in childcare

  • CPR certification or the willingness to obtain

The ideal candidate is:

  • Curious about a career in early childhood education

  • Passionate about creating an enriching experience for young children

  • Has past experience with childcare

  • Is able/willing to learn CPR and basic conflict resolution

CAMP! Internship Program Requirements

BootCAMP!
CAMP! interns are required to participate in BootCAMP–a weekend of in-person professional development workshops. Topics covered include professionalism, goal setting, skill development, financial wellness, and preparing a professional profile.
Upon completion, interns will receive a certificate of completion. Exemptions may be permitted under exceptional circumstances.

When: Saturday + Sunday | June 21 + 22, 2025

Location: In-person at Slough Farm in Edgartown, MA.

Mandatory check-ins
Throughout the program, interns will participate in check-ins with the CAMP team.
This includes an initial onboarding meeting at the beginning of the internship program, a group coaching session, and an end of program check in.

During check-ins, interns will reflect on their personal and professional goals and accomplishments relating to their internship experience.
