Printmaking + Creative Retail Internship
Are you passionate about art? Does working in a fun and high vibe atmosphere sound exciting to you? Are you curious about the behind the scenes operations of a creative business?
Althea Designs is looking for a printmaking and creative retail intern! In this program the intern will learn to navigate a career creating and selling art. A part of the internship will be focused on the printmaking process and experiencing the multidimensional lifestyle of a creative business person. Under the guidance of Althea Freeman-MIller, the intern will have the opportunity to learn creative entrepreneurial skills and a wide range of skills relating to sales and customer service.
The mission of Althea Designs is to empower others to seek joy, celebrate life, live connected to authentic-self purpose, and remember it is in our human nature to be creators. The business is based on the work of Althea Freeman-Miller, a full-time artist specializing in linoleum block print design and painted folk art. She runs a print shop and creative wellness studio in Vineyard Haven and sells her work at markets.
The intern will learn about customer service, retail, hospitality and merchandising in a high vibe, playful atmosphere.

The ideal candidate is an art lover with a curiosity about running a creative business, and is open-minded and enthusiastic about learning.

Compensation will depend on the candidate's experience and skills.
Perks: Studio and press time, possibly a show/sale of your work, networking in the artist and business community. The mentorship component of this internship will support you to become a full or part time career artist.

CAMP! Internship Program
BootCAMP!
CAMP! interns are required to participate in BootCAMP–a weekend of in-person professional development workshops and an orientation. Topics include leadership development, basics of financial wellness, workplace etiquette, etc. Upon completion, interns will receive a certificate of completion and a stipend. Exemptions may be permitted under exceptional circumstances.
When: Saturday, June 22 + Sunday, June 23, 2024
Location: In-person at Slough Farm in Edgartown, MA.

Mandatory check-ins
CAMP! interns are required to participate in three check-ins with the CAMP! program coordinator throughout the duration of the internship. This includes an initial meeting at the beginning of the internship program, a mid-way check-in, and an exit interview. During check-ins, interns will reflect on their personal and professional goals and accomplishments relating to their internship experience.
